An electrical installation condition report (EICR), previously known as periodic inspection, is the inspection and testing of an electrical installation.
The purpose is to determine if an installation is in satisfactory condition, and:
- Discover if electrical circuits or equipment are overloaded
- Identify potential electrical shock risks and fire hazards
- Find any defective electrical work
- Highlight any lack of earthing or bonding
Frequency of reports
Commercial premises – 5 years
Industrial premises – 3 years
Landlord premises – 5 years
Upon completion an NICEIC electrical installation condition report shall be provided.
